I created this portrait of Chappell Roan as a poster for a close friend. It was a really nice opportunity to return to drawing after not painting for a while, especially with a stylized portrait of an artist I personally admire a lot.

The reference image had very strong lighting, so the piece also became a way for me to explore light and form in my 2D work again. While painting it, I noticed how much my 3D lighting experience had started to influence the way I approach drawing. I felt more aware of how light wraps around the face, how shadows define the structure, and how color can push the mood of an image.

The portrait was painted in Procreate and later adjusted in Photoshop. Even though it started as a personal gift, it became a small reminder for me that my 2D and 3D skills are not separate from each other, but constantly feed into one another.
