This experimental Houdini project was created for a class where the goal was to explore the software more freely. I chose to work with FLIP fluids and wanted to create a material that did not just behave like a normal liquid, but gradually dried, thickened and solidified over time.
A big part of the project was figuring out how to make the simulation and the material feel connected. I wanted the fluid to feel like it was changing state, not only through movement, but also through its surface quality and shading. The final piece was rendered in Karma XPU and gave me the chance to explore fluid simulation, evolving material behavior and stylized shading in a more experimental context.
It was a fun project because it allowed me to approach Houdini less as a tool for recreating something realistic and more as a way to develop strange, material-driven visuals.
